This is a reproduction of an original collage. I imagined it like a bulletin board of memories, a patchwork of text and maps symbolizing the journey while a giant pushpin marks a moment of significance to the heart. Maybe it was the first moment you set eyes on someone. Maybe it was the birth of a child. Maybe a joyous occasion with a best friend. I created this particular piece the year that I moved to North Carolina to be with the man who became my husband - and the letter is a copy of one I'd written him 20 years earlier - telling him that while he frustrated me and challenged me, I had made the choice to love him and would never stop. (Yeah, ok, I have a romantic streak). You may not remember the date - but, like me, you remember the moment. Here, I've used the 14th as a placeholder for those moments, and to tie in with Valentine's Day in the U.S. (romantic streak - what did I tell you?) But no matter the number, the symbolism is the same.
(It is possible to have this piece customized with the number/date of your choice. Let me know what you're wanting through the Contact Page, and I'll see what we can do!)
